ASA STUDIO was founded in Japan with a desire to bring Japanese craft into closer conversation with the world.

Our selection is intentionally small. Each artisan is visited in their own environment, allowing us time to understand not only their work, but the hands, materials, places and ideas behind it.

Many of these practices exist beyond the usual paths of international exchange. ASA STUDIO connects their work with galleries, hospitality spaces, designers and creative partners beyond Japan – through carefully selected works, commissions and collaborations.

We work closely with both artisan and client, seeking relationships and settings in which the work can retain its integrity and find new meaning.

Our role is simply to help them travel further.
